Engineering / Electronics Manufacturing Technical Writer

A leading developer in the global automation market, Pepperl+Fuchs is looking for a hardworking, ambitious individual to fill an Engineering / Electronics Manufacturing Technical Writer position for our new facility in Katy, Texas.  This position will be responsible for interfacing with Production and Research and Development by creating and improving the work instructions and other documentation required for the production of industrial computers and other products.  Participation in Lean manufacturing and other continuous improvements projects is expected.  This person will initially spend some time in Twinsburg, OH for training. 

A successful candidate must be able to work in a fast pace Manufacturing environment while maintaining high standards of quality.  This job will require a strong sense of urgency, initiative, and drive to get things done correctly, with emphasis on working with people in every facet of the production process.

The  Engineering / Electronics Manufacturing Technical Writer  will be responsible for a variety of functions including:

  • Document work processes in a manufacturing and engineering environment.
  • Interprets and applies input by the engineering team to create work instructions in a standard format.
  • Regularly maintains and improves work instructions.
  • Updates Routing documents in the ERP system.  
  • Works regularly with Production and Engineering teams to determine status of production and potential improvements.
  • Contributes to continuous improvement process.
  • Alters schedules to meet unforeseen conditions.
  • Orders indirect materials and tools.
  • Maintains or prepares communications and reports.
  • Complies with all company policies and instructions; brings appropriate issues to their Manager’s attention.

 Engineering / Electronics Manufacturing Technical Writer Qualifications

Experience documenting work processes in a manufacturing environment.

  • Associate’s Degree in a relevant electronics, engineering or engineering technology curriculum with a minimum of two (2) years of manufacturing work experience. 
  • Production process knowledge and use of an ERP system; familiar with ISO 9001
  • Knowledge of Lean manufacturing tools and their use is desired
  • Strong skills in documenting work instructions and product routings.
  • Strong keyboarding skills; working knowledge of Microsoft Office applications and the use of the intranet and internet.
  • Ability to work alongside other employees within all levels of the organization.
