Industrial Engineer

A leading developer in the global automation market, Pepperl+Fuchs is looking for a hardworking, ambitious individual to fill an Industrial Engineer position for our new facility in Katy, Texas.  This position will be responsible for interfacing with Production and Research and Development and providing engineering support for the production of industrial computers and other products.  This person will initially spend several weeks in Twinsburg, OH and later need to go to Germany for training. 

A successful candidate must be able to work in a fast pace environment while maintaining high standards of quality.  This job will require a strong sense of urgency, initiative, and drive to get things done correctly, with emphasis on working with people in the production process.

The Industrial Engineer will be responsible for a variety of functions including:

  • Analyze production problems; evaluate and propose potential solutions; recommend best solution(s); implement and document change.
  • Develop, document, and train best production practices.
  • Investigate, quote and order production equipment.
  • Responsible for developing production standards.
  • Assist Mechanical and Electrical Engineering in design of part for manufacturability and ensure a smooth transfer into production.
  • Coordinate and lead Lean Enterprise (Global Lean) efforts for site.
  • Frequent interaction with production, engineering, purchasing and quality staff at all levels.
  • Write and update associated documentation.
  • Provide production assistance to employees.
  • Collaborates with Engineering to build the first units in pilot runs.
  • Explores new and innovative ways to improve production efficiency with Supervisor and Manager.
  • Maintains detailed records and prepares communications as needed.
  • Interacts professionally on a regular basis with staff, must regularly lead and motivate group.
  • Complies with all company policies; brings appropriate issues to their Supervisor’s attention.
  • Assumes additional responsibilities and performs special projects as needed or directed.

Industrial Engineer Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree in an appropriate Engineering discipline.
  • Minimum of five (5) years Industrial, Manufacturing or Lean engineering experience in the assembly of electromechanical or electronic products.
  • Outstanding mechanical and electrical aptitude.
  • General knowledge of business and engineering processes
  • Ability to work alongside other employees within all levels of the organization.
  • Well-developed analytical and problem solving abilities.
  • Strong knowledge of Microsoft Office applications, and the use of intranet and internet.
  • Ability to organize work and consistently meet deadlines.
  • Ability to express self effectively and concisely, both verbally and in writing.
  • Ability to demonstrate a high attention to detail and good follow-up skills.
  • Self-motivated, proactive and solution focused.
  • Maintains a high level of energy and a consistent positive attitude.
  • Ability to read and follow detailed instructions and diagrams.
  • Ability to tactfully and effectively deal with peers and supervisors in a personable and professional manner.
